In the Bug Tracking the terms “Priority” and “Severity” are used to share the importance of a bug among the team and to fix it accordingly.

Severity determines how critical the test case is. Ex. if the software does not open up at all, the severity level would be high as the user does not have access at all to the software.

Priority determines how bad the user wants the error or bug to be checked out.
Ex: A user notices a different color pattern in the website, it might not be critical for the user but it is a sure error that needs to be fixed so a priority level would be 3, meaning not too much in need.
